After identifying items in Suggested Queries, use the See details button from the opportunity card to begin reviewing each opportunity in depth to determine if the query is merited.
Query Details
Click on any opportunity card to open the Query Details, which include the following elements:
Condition name: The name of the clinical condition associated with the query opportunity.
AI Summary: A summary explaining why the opportunity was surfaced. It will reference relevant vitals, medications, treatments, and other documentation from the patient record.
Hyperlinked evidence: Referenced labs, observations, and documents are hyperlinked for quick access. Click them to view the full document.
Impact
Beneath the AI Summary, the Impact card will be expanded by default and shows:
Code Changes: Suggested changes by AKASA AI, including examples like Set PDX, Add code, or Delete code.
Impacts: Shows potential changes to MS-DRG, APR-DRG, HCC, EC, etc., codes based on the suggested changes. Baseline values are shown alongside the AI (anticipated) values if you accept the suggested changes, making comparisons easier.
When more than one coding option is available, a “More Options” link will appear, allowing users to open a side-by-side comparison view. To review potential code changes and their associated impacts, hover over a code card and select “Show More” to toggle through the available options. To apply a different impact, click “Use Instead.”
Code changes manually attached to a query opportunity will display on the associated query opportunity card with a user (human) icon. This makes it easy to distinguish between AI-suggested codes and user-added codes.
Criteria
Criteria cards contain specific evidence directly related to the diagnoses on the query card. Each card includes an AI preview of what was found for that criterion as well as a structured, "checklist-style" summary of clinical criteria. This allows users to see exactly which components of a diagnosis were met or not met.
Criteria & Evidence Display
When reviewing the details of a Suggested Query, AKASA displays only the clinical indicators and criteria directly related to the diagnoses listed on the query card. If any criteria or evidence - whether met or unmet - does not relate to the diagnoses shown under “Evidence for” or “No evidence for”, it will not appear in the details view.
Filtering Criteria Cards
By default, all Criteria Cards are displayed. But they can be filtered by Evidence.
Clicking an evidence condition chip will filter the criteria relevant to that condition.
You can click the chip again to return all results.
Cross-checking Dashboards and Documents
To ensure thorough review, use the Clinical Indicators dropdown in the left panel to:
Select the associated condition, which will open the Dashboard Viewer in the center panel.
Review vitals, medications, treatments, and labs related to the condition.
Criteria details contain links that will route you to evidence in the Dashboard Viewer for a more comprehensive review.
This is an interactive workflow, meaning links in the criteria cards can also route you to a document that will appear in the Document Viewer in the center panel for further verification. Additionally, more data is available on hover for certain values on the dashboard.
Evidence
Provides detailed information and allows for cross-checking evidence using links to the dashboard and documents.
Flat Evidence Display: Key evidence is organized into a separate, non-duplicated list categorized by Labs and Observations, Documents, and Medications.
Provider Specialty Chips: Document-based evidence now features a specialty chip (e.g., "Nephrology"), making it easier to identify the source of clinical documentation at a glance.
Hyperlinked Summaries: The AI-generated condition summaries include direct hyperlinks to the supporting evidence, allowing for instant verification.
Train AI Mode
For internal reviewers and junior CDS users who require a deeper look into the "logic" of the system, a Train AI mode can be toggled on.
This mode reveals the individual prompt fragments used by the AI.
Evidence is nested directly under these fragments (note: in this mode, a single piece of evidence may appear multiple times if it satisfies multiple criteria).
Filtering Criteria Cards
By default, all Criteria Cards are displayed. But, they can be filtered by Meets, Fails, or All criteria.
You can select a toggle to display only Meets or Fails criteria
Clinical validation queries will default to the Fails checklist, while all other query suggestions will default to the Met checklist.
